Ed Hoening's custom HBBS 410 Slug gun built on Mauser bolt action. The HBBS 410 is not just for the TC platform like the Encore. This is another example of the versatility of the HBBS 410 design and Ed's handiwork on the fine hand checkering.

3 shot group of 370 gr. HBBS Heavy Load Heat Crimp Slugs. Very good loads and very good shooting.

3 shot group of 375 gr. slugs from brass load at 1625 fps shot as part of brass testing. Good stuff all around. The brass loads can overlap plastic performance but have the potential for hotter loads. This is a lighter brass load.

At left is a 400 gr. jacketed .410 slug, talk about serious penetration! The recoil from this is not for recoil shy shooters, one shot to say you did it may be enough! Also this load is near the limit for the plastic hulls. The lighter slug loads are not as hard on the case. At right is various loads worked up for 45-410 testing. An interesting project with the intent to find more powerful, more accurate, "universal" load for the many types and incarnations of the 45-410. The 2 on the right of this picture became known as Hogzilla because of the extreme chamber length and of course the heavy .45 slug. Hogzilla demonstrated the potential powerhouse to be had in a custom made 45-410 or from cleaning up an existing 45-410 barrel. The desired "universal" load is still elusive.

This one may be produced for sale at a later date. It is a departure from the heavy slugs developed by Hoening Big Bore Slug and offers a new set of characteristics. This load nicely fills the performance void between light weight slugsfound elsewhere and the heavy-weight performers from HBBS.

Here is a good looking 370 gr wadcutter load. This is an example of less than hoped for results in accuracy. Still a powerful load that may find a use. Up close self-defense?
